Our professional Family Educators provide parents with supportive, up-to-date information and guidance to better understand and address today’s family issues. Our offerings include:
Community Speakers’ Bureau offers topic-related talks that are tailored to the hosting organization’s needs. Our family educators are available to speak on parenting issues to civic, school, business, faith-based or community agencies. Click here for a list of suggested topics.

Drop-in Support for brief questions that may include, sleeping challenges, behavioral issues, discipline questions, or developmental inquiries. Family educators offer this service at our offices and at community locations, such as child care centers, schools, or community centers. Ongoing drop-in sessions include:
- Conversations with Suzanne – Join parent educator, Suzanne Hanky for an informal session of conversation and support. Bring your questions, concerns….whatever is on your mind. Simply drop by between the hours of 9:30 and 10:30 am for morning sessions or between 6:30 and 7:30 pm for evening sessions. All are welcome, no registration required. Session held at Innsbrook. - Children’s Museum of Richmond – Member Mondays. Our Family Educator, Susan Brown, is on hand to answer your parenting questions and offer helpful advice. This is a special gift for members of the Children’s Museum, thanks to a partnership between our organizations. Click here for more information.
Educational Classes vary from single to multiple sessions and are offered day and/or night. Informal class sessions focus on topics from birth through adolescence and some classes include both parent and child.
Private Consultations provide opportunity for confidential discussions of parent issues. Flexible dates and times fit your schedule. Family Educators give professional, practical advice on child development, behavioral issues or basic parenting challenges.
Referrals are made when appropriate to other community human service agencies or professionals.
